The Executive Committee of the Alumni Associations Community of Practice (CoP) convened in Pretoria on 14 and 15 May 2026 for a strategic planning and team-building meeting.
During the workshop, the committee reviewed its ways of working and strengthened both existing and emerging frameworks, including the CoP’s vision, mission, governance and structure. Discussions also focused on defining the scope, identifying high-level priorities, and developing sustainability strategies.
The two-day program concluded with an agreement on planned activities and initiatives, including actionable outputs, the development of practical systems and tools, and positioning the CoP to ensure long-term sustainability. Committee members presented the action plans during the final session of the workshop.
The Associations CoP aims to serve as a sustainable platform for continuous learning, networking, resource sharing, and mutual support among alumni associations. It seeks to foster a collaborative environment that strengthens the long-term growth and impact of Australia Awards Africa alumni associations, supporting their development into dynamic, effective, and sustainable not-for-profit organisations. The CoP delivers support through peer learning, mentoring, training, and the exchange of resources and expertise.
The establishment of the CoP represents one of the key outcomes of the Alumni Association Sustainability Campaign, which was implemented between 2024 and 2025.
