The Australia High Commission, accredited to Zambia and Malawi, opened the pre-departure briefing for 11 Malawian and 13 Zambian Australia Awards scholarship recipients. The scholars will be mobilising to Australia in 2019 and the briefing (hosted from 30 October – 31 October 2018) helped to prepare them for living and studying in Australia.
High Commissioner, Ms Bronte Moules, congratulated the shortlisted professionals, for demonstrating the leadership potential necessary to advance development in their countries. She also encouraged them to continue to represent their countries, as they complete their postgraduate qualifications and increase their ability to advocate for change within their sectors. Lastly, she invited them to explore Australia’s boundless opportunities and make connections with other international students, Australian students and Australian institutes.
The scholars will be completing Master’s degrees in a range of sectors including education, governance, agriculture, health and environment. They are mid-level to senior-level professionals from public sector organisations and civil society organisations. After completing their scholarship, they will join a prestigious global network of alumni and implement their Re-integration Action Plan.
